SIYA HAMBA was established during our national lockdown in 2020. During a time of great uncertainty, we chose to have faith and to continue on in hope! The dream came alive when Max recognised the need to manufacture unique quality hand-crafted pet accessories that celebrated culture and preserved the heritage of Zulu beadwork.
Our core hand beaders Jabu + Slindile are cousins and have designs named after them. During the lockdown both ladies had medical conditions that put them at risk to go back to work. Together with Max, we created and crafted the start of our pawsome adventure at Siya Hamba. Everyday has been a school day teaching each other a new skill and preserving this special handcraft.
Jabu meaning ’to rejoice in happiness’ in Zulu, epitomises this definition. Her bubbly, warm personality combined with her eye for detail and design has made her a valued member of our team. Slindile, a lady of strength and grace, rocks the colour pink and is a pastor in our community of Shaka’s Rock, KZN.
We have recently employed Cindy on a part time basis who has been a fast learner and continues to brighten our days with positivity and hopeful dreams for the future.

Our pet accessories are made from genuine quality cow leather and brass buckle hardware that is all sourced and handmade locally in South Africa.
Our very own furry family members, Daisy + Diego, have inspired and motivated our products. Each and every collar is crafted with care, love, passion and is one of a kind. Our aim for the SIYA HAMBA Brand is to offer beautiful and modern designs, of a superior quality and durability, maintain a level of affordability, always ensure to keep our brand 100% proudly South African, empower and uplift our local artisans and support animal rescue organisations in our community.
